New feature, enhancement, or change Description
Bitwise enhancements Use the following new bitwise functions to manipulate fields in eval searches.
  • bit_shift_left for logical left shifts.
  • bit_shift_right for logical right shifts.
  • bit_and for bitwise AND operations.
  • bit_or for bitwise OR operations.
  • bit_not for bitwise NOT operations.
  • bit_xor for bitwise XOR operations.

The following eval functions also now support bitwise operations.

  • tonumber converts a string representation of a binary number to the corresponding number in base 10.
  • tostring converts a number to a string of its binary representation.

New JSON delete function Use the new json_delete function to remove one or more keys and their corresponding values from the specified JSON object. For more information, see json_delete(<object>,<keys>) in the Search Reference.
Dashboard Studio improvements New ability to conditionally show or hide panels in Grid layout

New option to select Dashboard Studio when saving reports to dashboards

Dashboard links with tokens update For Dashboard Studio and Classic Simple XML dashboards, links that direct outside of the Splunk Platform require token filters to handle tokens with spaces. For more details, see Token filters in the Dashboards and Visualizations manual.
Decentralized search telemetry collection This improvement increases efficiency, integrity (completeness), and reliability of search telemetry while freeing up search head capacity.
Usability and accessibility Updates to the Datasets page to improve usability and accessibility using modern technologies and frameworks.
Upgrade Readiness App Version 4.2.0 of the Upgrade Readiness App includes minor updates and fixes.
Splunk Secure Gateway updates Turn on and off mobile notifications for Alerts and Reports. Resize the SSG opt-in window enabling mobile users to opt-in from their mobile device during login.
populate_lookup alert action deprecation The legacy alert action, populate_lookup, is deprecated and will be disabled in a future release. Use the lookup alert action instead. Note that you can still attach a lookup alert action to new saved searches even though the populate_lookup alert action is deprecated.
