Customize a treemap

Use the Format menu to customize a treemap.

Use the General formatting panel to adjust the following settings.

Disable or enable zoom. Enabling zoom lets users click on a parent rectangle to zoom in on its child categories.

Legend, labels, and tooltips

  • Show or hide the treemap legend and category labels.
  • Show or hide tooltips.

Maximum categories

Adjust the maximum number of categories in the treemap. Use fewer categories to simplify and more categories to add detail.

Use the Color formatting panel to configure tree map colors. Treemaps can use one of the following color options.

Categorical mode

Use parent_category values to determine different colors for each rectangle.

Sequential mode

If the query includes a numerical color_field, use this field to determine rectangle color. Choose colors to represent minimum and maximum values in the metric range. Rectangles appear in different shades in a spectrum between the selected minimum and maximum colors.

No color mode

If no color mode is specified, all rectangles appear in the same color.
