Prepare Splunk App for NetApp Data ONTAP

If you already have Splunk App for NetApp Data ONTAP version 2.0.1 or later installed in your test environment, you must prepare the add-ons that support its Distributed Collection Scheduler. Splunk Appsfor NetApp Data ONTAP and Splunk App for VMware share the Distributed Collection Scheduler to manage data collection tasks.

If you do not have the Splunk App for NetApp Data ONTAP installed in your test environment, skip this step and proceed to download and install the Splunk App for VMware.

Requirements to share a Distributed Collection Scheduler

Splunk App for VMware version 3.1.0 or later contains the most up-to-date add-ons that support the Distributed Collection Scheduler listed below. Because it contains the latest versions, Splunk App for VMware overwrites the existing versions that Splunk App for NetApp Data ONTAP installed.

  • SA-Hydra version 4.0.0
  • SA-Utils version 3.1.0

If you intend to run both applications in the same instance of Splunk Enterprise, install, configure, and test Splunk App for NetApp Data ONTAP before installing the Splunk App for VMware.

Update Splunk App for NetApp Data ONTAP DCNs

If you installed Splunk App for VMware after you installed Splunk App for NetApp Data ONTAP, you updated the two add-ons that support the Distributed Collection Scheduler. You must also update the data collection nodes Splunk App for NetApp Data ONTAP uses.

To update the Splunk App for NetApp data collection node, copy the latest versions of SA-Utils and SA-Hydra from Splunk App for VMware to $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps on the NetApp ONTAP data collection node.
