About the Content Pack for ServiceNow

The Content Pack for ServiceNow enables IT Service Intelligence (ITSI) users or IT Essentials Work (ITE Work) users to visualize and investigate multiple ServiceNow instances in one place.

Content pack features

The content pack provides a robust collection of features for you to monitor the performance of your applications.

Dashboards

The content pack includes 10 dashboards. See Use ServiceNow dashboards for a list of available dashboards.

Entity searches

The content pack includes four entity searches. You can enable these searches when you are ready to run them to import your ServiceNow entities. See Enable your ServiceNow entity searches for steps to enable the searches.

Entity types

The content pack includes four custom entity types.

  • SNOW CMDB
  • SNOW Change Request
  • SNOW Event
  • SNOW Incident

Glass tables

The content pack includes four glass tables that you can use to monitor the performance of your ServiceNow instances at a high level.

  • ServiceNow-Change Requests Glass Table
  • ServiceNow-Events Glass Table
  • ServiceNow-Executive Glass Table
  • ServiceNow-Incidents Glass Table

Services and KPIs

The content pack includes five services with 12 KPIs. See KPI reference for the Content Pack for ServiceNow.

Service analyzer

The content pack includes a preconfigured saved service analyzer view called ServiceNow - Service Analyzer. This service analyzer provides a visual representation of your ServiceNow services and the dependencies between them. You can use this custom view to see the KPIs associated with a service. See Monitor your ServiceNow services.

Vital metrics

The entity types in this content pack contain a set of vital metrics which describe the overall performance of the entities within it. You can view these metrics on the Entity Health page and drill down further into individual ServiceNow entities.

Content pack features in ITSI and ITE Work

The features available in IT Essentials Work are a subset of the full feature set available in the content pack for ITSI.

Installation

You can install the Content Pack for ServiceNow after installing the Splunk App for Content Packs v1.5.0 or higher on the search head where you have installed ITSI or IT Essentials Work.
