Requirements

Splunk Edge Hub has the following requirements.

Splunk platform

Splunk Edge Hub is supported with Victoria and Classic Experience Splunk Cloud Platform and Splunk Enterprise deployments version 9.0 or higher.

Applications

Splunk Edge Hub requires the Splunk Edge mobile app, the Splunk App for Edge Hub and AR, and Splunk Secure Gateway. See the following resources to get started with these apps:

Token authentication

Splunk Edge Hub requires token authentication to be enabled. See Enable token authentication in the Securing Splunk Cloud Platform manual.

Create Indexes for the Splunk Edge Hub

Splunk Edge Hub requires you to create indexes to support the standard dashboards provided in the Splunk App for Edge Hub and AR. To learn more about how to create indexes for the Splunk Edge Hub, see About Splunk Edge Hub index creation.

Configure the HTTP Event Collector (HEC) and create an event collector token

If you're using Splunk Enterprise, enable the HEC to allow Splunk Edge Hub to send data to your Splunk platform instance. HEC is automatically enabled in Splunk Cloud Platform.

Splunk Edge Hub requires an event collector token that allows Splunk Edge Hub indexes to ingest data for both Splunk Enterprise and Splunk Cloud Platform deployments.

To learn about configuring the HEC and creating an event collector token for the Edge Hub, see Configure the HTTP Event Collector (HEC) for Splunk Edge Hub.

Power your Splunk Edge Hub

Turn on your Splunk Edge Hub. See Power your Splunk Edge Hub.

Register your Splunk Edge Hub

Register your Splunk Edge Hub. The registration process involves the following steps:

  1. Registering your mobile device to your Splunk platform instance
  2. Configuring the HEC endpoint that your Edge Hub will push events to
  3. Registering your Edge Hub to your mobile device

See Register or unregister your Splunk Edge Hub to register your Edge Hub to learn how to complete these steps.

Mount your Splunk Edge Hub

Mount your Splunk Edge Hub where you want it to collect. data. See Mount your Splunk Edge Hub to learn how to mount your Edge Hub using the provided hardware.

Safe-handling instructions

Before setting up your Splunk Edge Hub, follow these guidelines to ensure you're using the device safely:

  • Use in environments between -30 °C to 60 °C (-22 °F to 140 °F)
