Splunk Business Flow is no longer available for purchase as of June 20, 2020. Customers who have already purchased Business Flow will continue to have support and maintenance per standard support terms for the remainder of contractual commitments.

Configure Splunk Business Flow

After you install Splunk Business Flow, a Splunk platform administrator must perform the following configuration tasks:

Access Splunk Business Flow

Follow these steps to access Splunk Business Flow.

  1. Log in to your Splunk platform deployment.
  2. Click the Splunk Enterprise home button.
  3. Click Splunk Business Flow under apps.

Verify and troubleshoot deployment check results

Follow these steps verify and troubleshoot deployment check results.

  1. On the Register your Splunk cluster with Splunk Business Flow page, wait for the Deployment Check to finish confirming that your search head has the required connectivity with the SBF Hosted Environment.
  2. If you encounter an error, click Send report to Splunk.

Configure proxy settings

(Optional) You can customize proxy settings to enable Splunk Business Flow (SBF) to use your proxy. If you want to make changes to your proxy settings after you complete the app registration, see customize proxy settings in sbf.conf. Follow these steps to customize proxy settings to enable Splunk Business Flow (SBF) to use your proxy.

  1. Click '"Configure Proxy Settings"' in the Deployment Check Results panel.
  2. Select the type of proxy:
    • HTTP
    • HTTP-no-tunnel
    • Socks4
    • Socks5
  3. In Host type your host. Do not include the leading protocol
  4. in Port type the Port number.
  5. (Optional) Enable authentication.
    1. In Username type a username.
    2. In Password type a password.
  6. (Optional) Enable rDNS, reverse DNS resolution.
  7. Click Submit.

To successfully configure your proxy, you might need to allow list the app domain.

Follow these steps to allow list the app domain:

Select a region for the SBF Hosted Environment

Select which region you want your metadata to reside in. The SBF Hosted Environment is available in multiple regions.

  • APAC
  • EU
  • USA

Add and manage licenses for Splunk Business Flow

Follow these steps to add the license key for Splunk Business Flow for the first time.

  1. Add a license and enter the license GUID.
  2. Click Register.

Follow these steps to add or change a license key for Splunk Business Flow.

  1. Click the gear icon to open the Configuration page.
  2. Click the Licensing tab.
  3. Click Add License.
  4. Enter your License GUID.
  5. Click Add.

To delete a license, click Delete under Actions.
