Installation and Configuration Guide

On August 31, 2022, the Splunk App for VMware will reach its end of life. After this date, Splunk will no longer maintain or develop this product. The functionality in this app is migrating to a content pack in Data Integrations. Learn about the Content Pack for VMware Dashboards and Reports.

How to get out of trouble

Installation problems

  • we do not support the Linux version of VC (VM version)

Configuration problems

Permission problems

  • VC machine locks up
  • permission erors in engine logs


Data problems

  • gaps in data in views
  • data not displaying the the dashboards
  • data not being collect from all machines specified

If service accounts are not set up correctly on all VC's and ESX/i hosts data will not be collected from all of the identified resources. Validate the credentials using the procedure described in "Verify login credentials" in this manual.
