Hardware and software requirements for the Splunk Add-on for Microsoft Hyper-V

Microsoft Hyper-V setup requirements

You must install Hyper-V on Windows Server and then enable the Hyper-V role on Windows.

To collect data from your Hyper-V instances, you must install a forwarder directly on the machine running your Hyper-V instance. Install the add-on on that forwarder to perform data collection. If your system uses multiple Microsoft Hyper V Hypervisors, then you must install a forwarder and the add-on on each of them.

Splunk platform requirements

Because this add-on runs on the Splunk platform, all of the system requirements apply for the Splunk software that you use to run this add-on.

  • For Splunk Enterprise system requirements, see System Requirements in the Splunk Enterprise Installation Manual.
  • For Splunk Light system requirements, see System Requirements in the Splunk Light Installation Manual.
  • If you are managing on-premises forwarders to get data into Splunk Cloud, see System Requirements in the Splunk Enterprise Installation Manual, which includes information about forwarders.
