Upgrade the Splunk Add-on for Microsoft Hyper-V

In Splunk Add-on for Microsoft Hyper-V 3.0.0 and above, the names of the eventtypes have been changed to meet the naming convention best practice. It breaks backwards compatibility of the eventtypes. If you have saved search or dashboard using eventtypes from a previous version, you need to backup the eventtypes.conf and tags.conf and paste it to the local folder after your upgrade.

  1. Before the upgrade, copy the eventtypes.conf and tags.conf under $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps/Splunk_TA_microsoft-hyperv/default.
  2. After upgrading the Splunk Add-on for Microsoft Hyper-V 3.0.0, paste these two files under $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps/Splunk_TA_microsoft-hyperv/local on your search head.
  3. Restart the search head.
