About the Content Pack for NetApp Data ONTAP Dashboards and Reports

The Content Pack for NetApp Data ONTAP Dashboards and Reports provides real-time and historical visibility into the performance and configuration of your NetApp storage infrastructure. Use this content pack with the Splunk Add-on for NetApp Data ONTAP to collect NetApp API data from one or more NetApp Fabric Attached Storage (FAS) controllers.

The content pack uses the capabilities of a scheduler and domain-specific data collection nodes (DCNs) to process and map data from your storage layer. The Splunk Add-on for NetApp Data ONTAP uses splunkd to index and process your data and the Splunk Web application server to enable you to search and navigate your data using the dashboards provided by Content Pack for NetApp Data ONTAP Dashboards and Reports.

The content pack includes the following components:

• A pre-built knowledge base of dashboards and reports that deliver visibility into your storage infrastructure.
• Dashboards for proactive monitoring.
• Knowledge objects that populate the dashboards and reports present in the content pack.

ITSI and ITE Work support

The content in the Content Pack for Monitoring Microsoft Windows is supported in ITSI and ITE Work.

Installation

You can install the Content Pack for NetApp Data ONTAP dashboards and Reports after installing the Splunk App for Content Packs. Install the content pack on the search head where you installed ITSI or IT Essentials Work. For more information, see Install and Configure the Content Pack for NetApp Data ONTAP Dashboards and Reports.

The Content Pack for NetApp Data ONTAP Dashboards and Reports, the Splunk App for NetApp Data ONTAP, and the Splunk Supporting Add-on for NetApp contain identical knowledge objects that cause a conflict when installed on the same search head. To avoid conflict, don't install these apps on the same search head.

Deployment requirements

Refer to the following table to ensure you are running the correct version of the content pack, ITSI, IT Essentials Work, and the Splunk Add-on for NetApp Data ONTAP:

Migrate from the legacy app or add-on to the Content Pack for NetApp Data ONTAP Dashboards and Reports

If you are using the Splunk App for NetApp Data ONTAP or the Splunk Supporting Add-on for NetApp, you can migrate to the Content Pack for NetApp Data ONTAP Dashboards and Reports.

On June 10, 2021, the Splunk App for NetApp Data ONTAP will reach its end of life and Splunk will no longer maintain or develop this product.

On January 20, 2023, the Splunk Supporting Add-on for NetApp will reach its end of life and Splunk will no longer maintain or develop this product.
