Licensing for the Splunk Data Stream Processor

After you purchase the Splunk Data Stream Processor, you receive a license that you must upload to use the Data Stream Processor. You must have a valid DSP license in order to activate any pipelines.

Types of licenses

There are two types of Splunk DSP licenses: a Splunk license and a Universal license.

  • Splunk license: Send data from a supported data source into a Splunk Enterprise index or to SignalFx.
  • Universal license: Send data from a supported data source into any supported data destination.

Add a license

Follow these steps to add a license to the Data Stream Processor.

  1. From the Data Stream Processor UI, click Help & Feedback.
  2. Click License.
  3. Upload your license.

After you add a license, you can return to this page again to view your license.

Upgrade your license

Contact Splunk Sales if you want to upgrade your license.

License expiration

Contact Splunk Sales to renew your license.

If your license expires, you will not be able to activate any new pipelines or re-activate any existing pipelines in the Data Stream Processor. You will still be able to create pipelines, edit existing pipelines, and perform other pipeline-related tasks.
