Install the Splunk Datasets Add-on

You can install the Splunk Datasets Add-on with Splunk Web. You can install the add-on onto any Splunk Enterprise instance of version 6.5.0 or later.

If you use Splunk Cloud 6.5.0 or later, the Splunk Cloud Datasets Add-on is already installed and enabled. You do not need to follow the steps and advisories in this topic.

Install the Splunk Datasets Add-on in Splunk Web from a downloaded file

If you use a single Splunk Enterprise instance, you can download the Splunk Datasets Add-on package and install it with Splunk Web.

The file downloads with a .tar.gz extension. Do not attempt to run this file.

1. Download the Splunk Datasets Add-on from Splunkbase .
2. Save the file to an accessible location.
3. Log into Splunk Enterprise on the host which you want to install the Splunk Datasets Add-on.
4. In the Home screen, select Apps > Manage Apps .
5. Click Install App from file.
6. Click the Choose File button and locate the installation package you just downloaded.
7. Click Upload. Splunk installs the Splunk Datasets Add-on.

If you are using a single instance of Splunk, you do not need to restart Splunk to complete the installation. The Splunk Datasets Add-on will not appear as a separate App in the App menu.

You will know the Splunk Datasets Add-on is installed correctly when you see a Create New Table Dataset button in the upper right corner of the Datasets listing page.
