Set up a private network for air-gapped registration
If your organization works in an air-gapped environment, you can set up a private network for Splunk Edge Hub device registration.
You'll set up Private Spacebridge, obtain and install a self-signed certificate, and proceed to register your Splunk Edge Hub devices.
Prerequisites and requirements
Complete the following before setting up a private network for Splunk Edge Hub device registration:
- Complete the steps at Installation and configuration overview for Splunk Edge Hub OS.
- Use Splunk Edge Hub OS version 1.9.0 or higher, Splunk Edge Mobile for iOS or Android version 1.10.0 or higher, and the Splunk App for Edge Hub version 4.7.1 or higher.
1. Set up Private Spacebridge
Set up Private Spacebridge, a backend infrastructure that allows devices to securely connect to a Splunk platform instance deployed within your own Kubernetes cluster.
To learn more about Private Spacebridge, see About Private Spacebridge in the Set up Private Spacebridge manual.
To set up Private Spacebridge, see Get started with Private Spacebridge in the Set up Private Spacebridge manual.
2. Obtain and install a self-signed certificate
Private network registration requires a self-signed certificate for the Splunk Edge Mobile app. See the following documentation to add self-signed certificates for iOS or Android devices:
- For iOS: Trust manually installed certificate profiles in iOS, iPadOS, and visionOS
- For Android: Add & remove certificates
3. Register your Splunk Edge Hub device
To register your Splunk Edge Hub device, complete the steps at Register or unregister your Splunk Edge Hub device in the Splunk Edge Hub OS Configuration Guide.
You must scan the QR code displayed in Splunk Secure Gateway when registering your device. Alternative login is not supported for private network registration.
