Integrate Splunk Infrastructure Monitoring with ITSI

The (ITSI) entity integration with Splunk Infrastructure Monitoring provides the elements necessary to monitor your Splunk Infrastructure Monitoring AWS, Azure, and GCP instances in ITSI. For an overview of the Splunk Infrastructure Monitoring integration, see Overview of the Splunk Infrastructure Monitoring entity integration in ITSI.

Prerequisites

You must meet the following prerequisites to set up the Splunk Infrastructure Monitoring integration with ITSI:

Prerequisite Description
Administrator role

In Splunk Enterprise, you have to be a user with the admin role.

In Splunk Cloud Platform, you have to be a user with the sc_admin role.

Integration requirements Make sure you meet the Splunk Infrastructure Monitoring integration requirements. For more information, see Splunk Infrastructure Monitoring integration requirements for ITSI.

Step 1: Install and configure the Splunk Infrastructure Monitoring Add-on

The Splunk Infrastructure Monitoring Add-on lets you collect metrics and event data from Splunk Infrastructure Monitoring. The add-on includes an SPL command called sim that runs on the search head cluster and enables SPL-generating search commands to fetch data from Splunk Infrastructure Monitoring and bring it into ITSI.

For configuration instructions, see Configure the Splunk Infrastructure Monitoring Add-on.

Step 2: Install the Content Pack for Splunk Infrastructure Monitoring

The Content Pack for Splunk Infrastructure Monitoring provides the necessary entity discovery searches, entity types, and services corresponding to each of the default Splunk Infrastructure Monitoring integration types. After you configure your services, use the visualizations provided with the content pack to monitor your AWS, Azure, and GCP instances in Splunk Infrastructure Monitoring. For installation instructions, see Install and configure the Content Pack for Splunk Infrastructure Monitoring in the Content Pack for Splunk Infrastructure Monitoring documentation.

For more information about how the content pack works, see About the Content Pack for Splunk Infrastructure Monitoring in the Content Pack for Splunk Infrastructure Monitoring documentation.
