Upgrade
Backup your existing deployment
Before you upgrade, backup your existing Splunk Enterprise deployment. For more information about backing up deployment, read the topics "Back up configuration information" in the Admin Manual and "Back up indexed data" in the Managing Indexers and Clusters Manual.
Upgrade a distributed deployment
To upgrade your distributed Splunk Enterprise environment, read "Upgrade your distributed environment" in the Distributed Deployment Manual for instructions.
Upgrade steps
1. Download the Splunk App for NetApp Data ONTAP, from Splunkbase to a location in your environment. See "Download the App for NetApp Data ONTAP" for more details.
2. Stop Splunk Enterprise.
3. On the data collection copy the following components from the splunk-app-for-netapp-data-ontap_<number>.zip
download package then paste in the $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps
folder on the data collection node:
- SA-Utils
- SA-Hydra
- Splunk_TA_ontap.
4. Start Splunk Enterprise.
5. If the scheduler is running, stop it before proceeding. To do so, stop Splunk Enterprise on the search head, or stop the scheduler in the Collection Configuration page of the app.
6. Install the Splunk App for NetApp Data ONTAP. Follow the instructions in the topic "Install the Splunk App for NetApp Data ONTAP".
7. Once installed, start Splunk Enterprise if you stopped it, or restart the scheduler in the Collection Configuration page of the app.
Validate your installation
You can validate that you have correctly installed the app is and that data is coming in. Refer to the "Log in and get started" topic details.
