Install Splunk Service Intelligence for SAP Solutions

Service Intelligence for SAP Solutions is available as an SPL file that you download and install on your Splunk search head. The application includes a backup file of preconfigured ITSI objects, including service templates, KPI base searches, and a glass table, that you can restore to your own environment and tune for your specific needs.

ITSI Objects installed for each SAP System

This content pack involves the creation and addition of ITSI objects during the installation of SAP systems. The number of ITSI objects that will be added to your environment while installing and configuring this content pack is shown below. For information about ITSI performance considerations and how to plan your ITSI hardware requirements accordingly, see Planning your hardware requirements.

On restoring the templates

The following table shows the ITSI objects that are added after restoring the templates as part of Step 2 of the Installation wizard.

Prerequisites

Prerequisite Description
SAP PowerConnect for Splunk You must install SAP PowerConnect for Splunk and meet all the necessary data requirements before installing Service Intelligence for SAP Solutions. For instructions, see Data requirements for Splunk Service Intelligence for SAP Solutions.
Install IT Service Intelligence For instructions, see Install Splunk IT Service Intelligence on a single instance in the ITSI Install and Upgrade Manual.
Take a full ITSI backup Take a full backup of ITSI. For instructions, see Create a full backup of ITSI in the ITSI Administration Manual.

Note: The minimum disk storage should be 200GB on Windows instances where you are installing the Splunk search head and ITSI. Otherwise, templates and SIDs can take longer than expected to install.

Steps

Service Intelligence for SAP Solutions is available on Splunkbase. Perform the following steps to install the app on a single instance deployment:

Note: Service Intelligence for SAP Solutions is not compatible with Internet Explorer. Use a different browser to use this app.

  1. From the Splunk Web home screen, click the gear icon next to Apps.
  2. Click Browse more apps.
  3. Search for Service Intelligence for SAP Solutions.
  4. Click Install.
  5. Provide your credentials and click Login and install.
  6. If Splunk Enterprise prompts you to restart, do so.
  7. Make sure the app appears in the list of apps and add-ons. You can also find it on the server at $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps/ServiceIntelligenceForSAPSolutions.
