As long as no threads are queued for being scheduled on the processor, SystemLoadAverage matches the CPU utilization shown by the task manager. That is, it's in the range of 0-1% or 0-100%. However, if there are threads queued for scheduling, which happens if the CPU is busy around 100%, the loading value is 1 + (number of queued threads / CPU count). That is, it's above 1 or 100%. Very often more threads could theoretically run than processors are available. |
