Using the Splunk Metrics Workspace

Download and install the Splunk Metrics Workspace

Download and install the Splunk Metrics Workspace to analyze time series data in Splunk Enterprise.

Download the Splunk Metrics Workspace

Download the Splunk Metrics Workspace from Splunkbase.

  1. Go to Splunk Metrics Workspace on Splunkbase.
  2. Click Download.
  3. Save the file to an accessible location.

Install the Splunk Metrics Workspace on Splunk Enterprise

Install the Splunk Metrics Workspace on Splunk Enterprise from the command line, from the file system, or in Splunk Web.

Install the Splunk Metrics Workspace from the command line

  1. At the command line, enter the following:
    OS Command
    Unix/Linux ./splunk install app <path/packagename>
    Windows splunk install app <path\packagename>

Install the Splunk Metrics Workspace from the file system

  1. Unzip the file.
  2. Copy the directory to the correct location:
    OS Location
    Unix/Linux $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps
    Windows %SPLUNK_HOME%\etc\apps

Install the Splunk Metrics Workspace using Splunk Web

  1. On the Splunk bar, click the Applications menu, and select Manage Apps.
  2. On the Apps page, click Install App from file.
  3. Click Choose File, navigate to and select the package file for the Splunk Metrics Workspace, and then click Open.
  4. Click Upload.

Install the Splunk Metrics Workspace on Splunk Cloud

Install the Splunk Metrics Workspace on your instance of Splunk Cloud.

  1. Log in to your Splunk Cloud instance.
  2. Click Browse more apps.
  3. Search for the Splunk Metrics Workspace.
  4. Click Install.
  5. Type your username and password, and accept the terms and conditions.
  6. Click Login and install.

Upgrade the Splunk Metrics Workspace

Upgrade from the beta version of the Splunk Metrics Workspace.

  1. To uninstall the beta application, delete the associated folder from the $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps directory.
  2. Restart Splunk Enterprise. In Splunk Web, navigate to System > Server Controls and click Restart Splunk.
  3. Install the Splunk Metrics Workspace from the command line, your file system, or using Splunk Web.

Uninstalling the previous version is only required when upgrading from the beta application.
