Backslashes
To pass a literal backslash in an argument to a Splunk Search Processing Language (SPL) command, you must escape the backslash by using the double-slash ( \\ ) string in your search. Any commands that execute subsequent to that initial escaping might need additional escaping, especially commands that use regular expressions because backslashes have special meaning in regular expressions. SPL uses the asterisk ( * ) as a wildcard character. The backslash symbol can't be used to escape the asterisk in search strings.
