About data monitoring

The Data Monitoring app provides a comprehensive view of your total data ingestion into Splunk. You can monitor and troubleshoot the data ingested into Splunk indexes, gain granular insights into data ingestion and address potential problems faster with Data Monitoring:

  • Monitor data ingestion across all sources.
  • Identify missing data.
  • Identify anomalies in data volume across all sources.
  • Look at trends using aggregate data ingestion metrics based on criteria you define.
  • Compare metrics across different time periods.
  • Drill deeper into specific data to understand more about the hosts that send your data into Splunk and the Splunk indexes that receive your data.
  • Use detailed deep-dive views to trace data volume spikes to specific hosts or sources and quickly detect issues.
