Upgrade a single node RHEL, CentOS, or Oracle Linux installation of Splunk UBA
Before upgrading Splunk UBA on a single server, be sure you have verified the Upgrade Splunk UBA prerequisites.
Single server upgrade steps
Ensure that Splunk UBA is running before you upgrade, then perform the following tasks to upgrade Splunk UBA on a single server.
- Obtain the Splunk UBA Software Update and download the file to the
/home/caspida
directory. Select version 5.0.1 from the drop-down list. The downloadable archive file is namedsplunk-uba-software-upgrade-package_501.tgz
. The size of the archive file is approximately 195MB and the extracted size is approximately 200MB. Make sure you have enough space in/home/caspida
before downloading and extracting the archive file. - Extract the archive with the following command:
tar xfz /home/caspida/splunk-uba-software-upgrade-package_501.tgz -C /home/caspida
- If you are using the Splunk UBA Kafka Ingestion App, perform the following tasks.
- Stop all data sources.
/opt/caspida/bin/Caspida stop-datasources
- Download and upgrade to version 1.3 of the Splunk UBA Kafka Ingestion App. During the upgrade, select the Upgrade app. Checking this will overwrite the app if it already exists. checkbox to upgrade the app without restarting Splunk Enterprise. See Install the Splunk UBA Kafka Ingestion App.
- Stop all data sources.
- Apply the patch with the following command:
The command installs the patch, restarts Splunk UBA, and restarts the data sources.
/home/caspida/patch_uba_501/bin/utils/patch_uba.sh -p /home/caspida/patch_uba_501
