How to install or upgrade to this release of Splunk UBA

Splunk UBA 5.0.3 is a maintenance release containing feature enhancements and fixed issues. Refer to the Release Notes for a summary of this information.

Install or upgrade to this release of Splunk UBA on a RHEL, CentOS, or Oracle Enterprise Linux system

Refer to the table for information about how to install or upgrade to this release of Splunk UBA.

Splunk UBA release 5.0.3 on Linux operating systems is available in a patch installation package with the version number 5.0.3.1.

Splunk UBA 5.0.0 requires files from the Splunk UBA 5.0.4 installation package in order to complete the installation on RHEL 7.8. If your upgrade or installation path requires you to install Splunk UBA 5.0.0 on RHEL 7.8, follow the installation instructions carefully and make sure you do not skip the steps to obtain and extract files from the Splunk UBA 5.0.4 installation package.

An existing customer running Splunk UBA 5.0.0
  1. Upgrade to Splunk UBA 5.0.1.

An existing customer running a Splunk UBA version earlier than 5.0.0
  1. Upgrade to Splunk UBA 5.0.0.

  2. Upgrade to Splunk UBA 5.0.1.

A new customer deploying Splunk UBA for the first time On supported RHEL, CentOS, or Oracle Enterprise Linux systems:
  1. Install Splunk UBA 5.0.0. Follow the instructions in the Splunk UBA installation checklist.
  2. Upgrade to Splunk UBA 5.0.1.

Install this release of Splunk UBA on an Ubuntu system

On Ubuntu systems, you can obtain and deploy the OVA or AMI image of Splunk UBA 5.0.3 which also includes the latest security patches. There is no dependency on any previous version of Splunk UBA.

  • If you are running an earlier release of Splunk UBA on Ubuntu, you can backup and restore your data after installing this release of Splunk UBA. See Prepare to backup Splunk UBA in Administer Splunk User Behavior Analytics.
