Installation and Configuration Guide

On August 31, 2022, the Splunk App for VMware will reach its end of life. After this date, Splunk will no longer maintain or develop this product. The functionality in this app is migrating to a content pack in Data Integrations. Learn about the Content Pack for VMware Dashboards and Reports.

Download the Splunk App for VMware from Splunk Apps

You can download the Splunk App for VMware and deploy it in your environment.

Download the Splunk App for VMware

  1. Download the Splunk App for VMware, from Splunk Apps to a location in your environment.
    1. Click Download and check the license agreement checkbox. The app is automatically downloaded. 
    2. Check that the file name is splunk_for_vmware-<version>-<buildnumber>.zip. It contains all the packages that you need to install the app.
  2. Check that the following files exist as part of the download:
  • splunk_app_vmware-<version>-<build_number>.zip
  • splunk_forwarder_for_vmware-<version>-<build_number>.zip
  • Splunk_TA_vcenter-<version>-<build_number>.zip
  • splunk_data_collection_node_for_vmware_<version>-<build_number>.ova
