Create and use geofences with Splunk AR

Associate non-AR dashboards with a GPS-defined location using Splunk AR. Splunk AR presents these dashboards to users when they're located within the GPS-defined location.

See About geofences with Splunk AR to learn more about geofences.

Geofences and associated dashboards are shared among Splunk AR users using the same Splunk Enterprise deployment.

Prerequisites

Before creating a geofence and associating dashboards to the geofenced area, make sure the following requirements are complete:

Create a geofence

Create a geofence on a GPS map to make dashboards available to Splunk AR users physically located within a GPS-defined location.

  1. In the Splunk AR app, tap the three dots icon.
  2. Tap Assets.
  3. Navigate to the Register tab.
  4. Tap Geofence.
  5. Drag the geofence or map to position. Pinch or expand to scale.
  6. Enter a geofence name.
  7. Select the dashboards you want to associate the geofenced location with.
  8. Tap the save icon.
Up to 20 nearby geofences appear on the Assets screen.

View dashboards associated with a geofence

View geofence-associated dashboards in the Assets screen of Splunk AR.

  1. Enter a geofence that's been configured in Splunk AR.
  2. In the Splunk AR app, tap the three dots icon.
  3. Tap Assets.
This displays a list of geofences.
  4. Tap a geofence to see its associated dashboards.
