Splunk Edge Hub OS release notes

You can collect sensor data and stream it into a Splunk platform instance using the Splunk Edge Hub and Splunk Edge Hub OS.

The following table provides the minimum version requirements to support the latest features in the Splunk Edge Hub OS, Splunk Edge Hub mobile app, and Splunk App for Edge Hub and AR:

What's new

Splunk Edge Hub OS version 1.8.1 requires minimum version 1.6.0 before upgrading.

Splunk Edge Hub OS version 1.8.1 includes fixes to online firmware updates. See the Splunk Edge Hub OS version 1.8.0 list for all major updates.

Splunk Edge Hub OS version 1.8.0 supports the following capabilities:

• When configuring Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), you can search across names, descriptions, and symbolic names to choose which metrics to gather from the SNMP device.
• When configuring Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT), you can use wildcard when configuring topic rules. See Configure Splunk Edge Hub OS.
• Splunk Edge Hub OS supports Docker containers to deploy your own client applications to the Splunk Edge Hub device. See Use Docker containers with Splunk Edge Hub OS.
• You can use the Splunk Edge Hub SDK to facilitate client interactions with the Splunk Edge Hub device. See Set up the Splunk Edge Hub SDK.
• You can update the Splunk Edge Hub OS firmware online. See Update Splunk Edge Hub OS online.

This version includes minor bug fixes.

Known issues

The following are known issues in this version of Splunk Edge Hub OS:

• Splunk Edge Hubs cannot be registered using Splunk Cloud Platform version 9.0.2209.2. Use a Splunk Cloud platform newer version instead.
• When upgrading to a new Splunk Edge Hub OS version, the Splunk General Terms Accept button might not immediately work if you're using Chrome as a browser.
  • Workaround: Use a larger monitor and scroll to the bottom, or use Firefox or Safari as a browser.
