Take notes and annotate visualizations in Splunk for iPad
Take notes, annotate visualizations, and organize your data in Splunk for iPad.
Prerequisites
- Download the Splunk for iPad. See Download Splunk for iPad.
- Log into a Splunk platform instance. See Log into a Splunk platform instance.
Take notes in the Splunk for iPad Journal feature
Take text notes, add photos, annotate and share visualizations using the Splunk for iPad journal feature.
Create a folder
Use folders to organize your notes. To create a folder, tap Journal > Add Folder. Name the folder.
Rename a folder
Long press a folder to rename it.
Write a note
Tap the pencil icon to create a new note in any folder.
Move notes
Here's how to move a note:
- From your notes list, swipe on a note.
- Tap the folder button.
- Select the folder you want to move it to.
Or you can drag and drop the note to the folder you want to move it to.
Annotate a visualization
- Navigate to a dashboard visualization that you want to annotate.
- Tap the pencil icon in the top right corner.
- Use the drawing tools to annotate the visualization.
- Tap the check button and select the folder in your journal to add the annotation into your notes.
Add a visualization to your journal
- While viewing a dashboard, tap the pencil icon in the top right corner.
- (Optional) Annotate the visualization.
- Tap the check icon. Select the folder and note you want to add it to.
The app enters split-screen mode and adds the visualization to your selected note. In split-screen mode, you can optionally do the following:
- Drag visualizations into the note you're viewing.
- Type to add text to the note.
- Tap the visualization to annotate it.
- Navigate to a visualization you want to share.
- Tap the pencil icon in the top right corner. Optionally, you can annotate the visualization.
- Tap the arrow icon to share the visualization.
