Hardware and software requirements for the Splunk ODBC Driver
The Splunk Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) Driver is currently available for Windows only.
You must install the Splunk ODBC Driver on the Windows machine in your environment that runs the application you want to use it with, whether that's Microsoft Excel, Tableau Desktop, or Microsoft Power BI. However, it does not need to be installed on the computer that is running Splunk Enterprise.
Though running the Splunk ODBC Driver and Splunk Enterprise on the same Windows PC is a supported configuration, you can use the Splunk ODBC Driver to connect to Splunk Enterprise running on any supported platform, including Mac OS X, RedHat and SUSE Linux 32/64-bit.
To install the Splunk ODBC Driver, you need the following components.
- Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package, downloadable from Microsoft's website. If you use the Splunk ODBC Driver with a 64-bit app such as the 64-bit edition of Microsoft Excel, install the x64 redistributable package from Microsoft's website.
