Installation checklist for DSP

Install the Splunk Data Stream Processor (DSP) with assistance from Splunk support. Use this checklist to install and administer the Data Stream Processor. Perform these tasks in the order listed.

3 Review network encryption policies Review where the Data Stream Processor does and does not provide network encryption. Network Encryption Policy
4 Contact a Splunk Sales representative To inquire about the Data Stream Processor, contact your Splunk Sales representative.
5 Configure required ports Configure the ports needed to enable communication between Gravity and the Data Stream Processor. Port configuration requirements
6 Configure Firewalld. Skip this step if Firewalld is not enabled. If Firewalld is enabled in the system, you must set these additional configurations to enable communication between Kubernetes services. Firewalld
7 Run the DSP installer and configure ports Download the tarball, extract it, and run the installer. Install the Data Stream Processor
8 Set environment variables Configure Environment Variables for your cluster. You must do this step if you want to set a default Splunk Enterprise instance to send data to, send data to an SSL-secured Splunk Enterprise instance, or use the DSP Health app to monitor your data pipelines. 10 Set up user accounts and verify permissions Set up user accounts and verify associated roles and capabilities. Set up user accounts
11 Configure the SCloud tool SCloud is a command-line tool to make API calls in the Data Stream Processor. SCloud is automatically installed for you during the Installation process. Get Started with SCloud
12 (Optional) Set up external services for data ingestion. The Splunk Data Stream Processor supports data from supported third-parties, REST APIs, or Splunk Forwarders. Admins can assist users of their tenant by setting up connections or Forwarders for use in their data pipelines. Supported ingestion methods and data sources
13 Use the Data Stream Processor Create a test pipeline to confirm that DSP is receiving and sending data successfully. You can use the Splunk Firehose to Splunk Index template to do this quickly. Use the Data Stream Processor
14 (Optional) Install and configure the DSP Health application Use the DSP Health application to monitor the health of your data pipelines. Monitor your pipelines with the DSP Health App
