  • A brand new, simpler first time configuration experience.
  • New dashboards including the Perfmon and Host Inventory pages.
  • Bug fixes.

Current known issues

The Splunk App for Windows Infrastructure has the following known issues:

  • In certain cases, the app setup prerequisite check prevents you from proceeding even though all prerequisite checks have passed. To work around the problem, confirm that the Splunk Add-on for Windows and the Splunk Supporting Add-on for Active Directory (SA-LDAPSearch) have been activated (and not just installed) in the Apps page in Splunk Web. (TAG-9012)
  • The app setup data check page does not allow you to proceed if you have not collected Active Directory data. To work around the problem, see "Known Issue: Data check page does not allow you to bypass Active Directory requirement". (TAG-8916)
  • The Host Inventory and Host Overview pages do not function in the app due to a missing configuration in the Splunk Add-on for Windows. To work around the problem, add the following stanza to the inputs.conf in the Splunk Add-on for Windows and deploy it to all of the servers in the environment:
[WinHostMon://OperatingSystem]
interval = 600
disabled = 0
type = OperatingSystem
index = windows

(TAG-8544)

  • The dashboard builder does not work properly with Internet Explorer version 8 or earlier. To work around the problem, use another Splunk Enterprise-supported browser. (MSAPP-2259, MSAPP-2277)
  • Some minor artifacts occur when you collapse the "Add Panels" sidebar on the Dashboard Builder page. (MSAPP-2109)

Change log (what's been fixed)

  • A problem where two macros used the wrong lookup was fixed. (TAG-8896)
  • A problem with the Event Codes lookup was fixed. (TAG-2990)
  • A problem where pages did not load after an upgrade to Splunk Enterprise 6.2 was fixed. (TAG-8802)
  • A problem that caused the app to display a "not found" error message despite the app being installed was fixed. (TAG-2616)
  • A problem where pages with filter controls would only display the first item in a category was fixed. (TAG-2559)
  • All add-ons that ship with the app are compliant with Common Information Model. (TAG-1186)
