Sample data

To help you get started with the new UI, a set of sample data is included with Search Experience.

The sample data contains an event index and lookup information from a fictional e-commerce site called "Buttercup Games".

When you use the sample data, you must set the Global Time Range to All time.

The following table describes the sample datasets:

Dataset name Description
sample_events Contains 1000 events from the Buttercup Games online store.
sample_prices Contains price information for products sold by Buttercup Games.
sample_products Contains information about the products sold by Buttercup Games.
sample_suppliers Contains information about the suppliers of the Buttercup Games products. The "address" field in this dataset is a multivalue field.

The sample datasets are located in the /splunk_sample_data/sample_datasets namespace. The sample data must be installed by your Splunk Admin, and will appear in your dataset list.
