Send data from Splunk DSP to SignalFx

You can use the SignalFx connector with a Write to SignalFx sink function to send data from the Splunk Data Stream Processor (DSP) to a SignalFx endpoint.

The SignalFx Connector supports the Public Realm and URL endpoint types. The Public Realm endpoint type is typically used with cloud-based SignalFx installations that are accessible via publically available realm names. An example of a SignalFx Public Realm is us1. The URL endpoint type is typically used with non-public SignalFx endpoints. An example of a URL endpoint is mysignalfx.myhostname.com.

IP addresses are not supported for the URL endpoint type.

Steps

  1. Click the Connections tab.
  2. Click Create new connection.
  3. Choose the SignalFx Connector.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Complete the following fields:
    Field Description
Connection Name A unique name for your SignalFx connection.
Description (Optional) A description of your Signal Fx connection
Endpoint Type The SignalFx endpoint type.
    • Set to public_realm to use a SignalFx public realm.
    • Set to URL to use a hostname.

This setting is case sensitive. All other values will fail validation.

    • If Endpoint Type is set to public_realm enter the SignalFx public realm, for example us1.
    • If Endpoint Type is set to URL enter the hostname, for example mysignalfx.myhostname.com. IP addresses are not supported.
Org Token Your organization-level SignalFx access token used to authenticate to the SignalFx endpoint. See Work with access tokens in the SignalFx Infrastructure Monitoring manual for more information about SignalFx access tokens.
  6. Click Save.
  7. (Optional) If you are editing a connection that's being used by an active pipeline, you must reactivate that pipeline after making your changes.

You can now use your SignalFx connection with a Write to SignalFx sink function to send data to a SignalFx endpoint.
