noun
A Splunk Enterprise instance that acts as a centralized configuration manager, grouping together and collectively managing any number of Splunk Enterprise instances. Instances that are remotely configured by agent management are called agents. Agent management downloads updated content, such as configuration files and apps, to agents. Units of such content are known as deployment apps.
The agent management interface offers an easy way to configure agent management and monitor the status of deployment updates.
In versions lower than 10.0 of Splunk Enterprise, agent management is called the deployment server. Please note that while the name has changed, the underlying functionality remains the same. Additionally new capabilities are introduced.
