Panel type refers to visualizations in Splunk Enterprise prior to version 6.1. Beginning with Splunk Enterprise 6.1, a panel is a container for visualizations.

A panel type refers to the kind of visualization that appears in a dashboard. For example, tables and charts are two different panel types. The Dashboard Editor has the following available panel types:

• table
• chart
• event list
• single value

simple XML has the following available panel types:
