command line tool

noun

a Splunk utility run from the CLI (command line interface) to troubleshoot a Splunk deployment. Each command line tool is invoked as an object to the CLI command, cmd. Some examples of command line tools are btool, locktool, and signtool. We don't recommend using command line tools without assistance from a member of our Customer Support Team.
