server class

noun

Represents a configuration of Splunk deployment clients. Server classes enable the management of a group of deployment clients as a single unit. A server class can be used to group deployment clients together by application, OS, data type to be indexed, or any other feature of your Splunk deployment.

A deployment server uses a server class to determine what content it should deploy to the set of deployment clients represented by the server class. This content can be made up of applications, system configurations, and other related content, such as scripts, images, and supporting material.
