search artifact

noun

A record of a specific run of a search that can be accessed either through the Jobs page. When you review a search artifact you are not seeing the results of a fresh run of a search--you are seeing the events that were returned by that search when it was run in the past.

For example, when you go to the Jobs page, you see a list of search jobs, representing searches that were run in the past. You can click the name of a particular search job to see the search artifact that is associated with it. It will appear in your browser window with a histogram and the events that were run in the recent past.
