pipe operator
noun
A vertical bar "|" character used to chain together a series (or pipeline) of search commands. Searches in Splunk are rendered left to right. If you have a pipeline of search commands, the result of the command to the left of the pipe operator is fed into the command to the right of the pipe operator.
