Installation and Configuration Manual

This documentation does not apply to the most recent version of Splunk® App for PCI Compliance. For documentation on the most recent version, go to the latest release.

Install prerequisites

You must meet the prerequisites for both Splunk Enterprise and the Splunk App for PCI Compliance before beginning the installation of the Splunk App for PCI Compliance. Make sure you have sufficient hardware, the appropriate system software, the correct version of Splunk Enterprise, and the necessary add-ons for your deployment.

Existing Splunk installation

Before installing the Splunk App for PCI Compliance, you need to have an installed and configured instance of Splunk Enterprise 6.0.1 or later running in your environment. Splunk Enterprise must be properly licensed with an Enterprise or Trial license before adding Splunk App for PCI Compliance. The free license is not supported. See "Types of Splunk software licenses" in the Admin Manual.

Splunk App for PCI Compliance prerequisites

See "Platform and hardware requirements" in this manual to make sure you have met these prerequisites for the Splunk App for PCI Compliance before you start the installation.

Supporting apps

The Splunk App for PCI Compliance requires the Sideview Utils app to be installed.

  • To install Sideview Utils using the using the Splunk Web Manager, select Manager > Apps > Sideview Utils and click Setup.
  • To install the app manually, copy the file to $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps before installing the Splunk App for PCI Compliance.
